What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent to use the sau command-line tool to publish videos (Reels) and photo carousels to Instagram through a separate browser login, instead of building its own uploader. After it is installed, the agent can log in to a dedicated account, publish immediately, record the result in a file, check that a post exists, and move a post to Instagram's Recently Deleted folder. Scheduling is not supported, and the agent is told to report unknown popups or unconfirmed submissions rather than claim success.

Great for

  • Creators who post Reels or photo carousels to a dedicated Instagram account and want repeatable commands
  • Developers building a scripted publishing workflow around the sau CLI
  • Teams that need a written result record for every published or deleted post

Skip it if

  • Scheduled posting: the skill states the current CLI only publishes immediately, so it cannot schedule posts (a scheduled request would be published right away if mishandled)
  • Bulk deletion or permanent purging: these are explicitly out of scope and deletion is risky if the wrong post URL is used
  • Accounts you do not control or unattended use without review: commands can create real public posts and passwords are entered by the user in a visible browser

Try asking

  • “Publish the video demo.mp4 as an Instagram Reel with a custom cover image and caption using account creator”
  • “Post a two-to-ten image carousel from the images folder with a title and body text”
  • “Verify that a previously published post URL contains the expected caption text”
  • “Delete a specific post after confirming the logged-in user, author, post ID and caption match”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    instagram-upload.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip instagram-upload.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip instagram-upload.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run sau instagram <command> --help first, since the skill says the help output is authoritative and example commands may create real posts
  • Always use --result with a fixed path and check for published, processing or submission_unknown before retrying; never resubmit an unknown result
  • Keep account files, cookies and screenshots out of Git and use exact caption text with verify and delete
