What it does

When you give the agent a broad research area, this skill makes it survey recent papers via web search and any local PDFs you have, then ask a separate Gemini model (through a local MCP bridge) to brainstorm 8-12 concrete research ideas, each with a hypothesis, a cheap test, a risk level and an effort estimate. The agent then groups near-duplicate ideas, drops only those that are clearly over budget, and attaches notes on related prior work for later review. It is written as an override for Codex users who want Gemini rather than a second Codex agent to act as reviewer.

  • Give a specific research direction rather than a single word, so the landscape survey and Gemini brainstorm are focused.

  • Note that the Gemini-based reviewer is sent your research direction and landscape summary, so avoid including confidential unpublished material.
