What it does

This skill gives the agent a fixed visual template, a monochrome serif-and-sans HTML slide deck, to use when building presentations. Once installed, when asked for an academic or grant-style deck, the agent fills the template with the user's own headlines, numbers and sections, keeping the fonts, palette and decorative layout unchanged, and outputs a single self-contained HTML file. The bundled example topic (CRISPR base-editing grant) is a sample, not a claim about real research.

Great for

  • Researchers or PIs who want a sober, text-dense grant or review deck as a single HTML file
  • Designers who want a strict ledger-style visual system for reports or white papers
  • Teams producing bilingual EN/CN briefs with minimal decoration

Skip it if

  • Decks needing color, imagery or playful branding, since the palette is intentionally all-ink and the skill forbids recoloring
  • Scientific claims that must be accurate: the agent will format content but does not verify the science, novelty or numbers, so a human must check them

Try asking

  • “Create a grant review deck for my lab's proposal using the monochrome template, with my own aims and budget numbers”
  • “Turn this research summary into a 12-slide academic brief in the Monochrome style”
  • “Build a white-paper style HTML report on user research findings with high-density text”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Monochrome HTML Grant DeckInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    html-ppt-zhangzara-monochrome.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip html-ppt-zhangzara-monochrome.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip html-ppt-zhangzara-monochrome.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Provide your real content, numbers and audience up front so the agent does not keep the placeholder example text
  • Ask the agent to preserve the template's fonts and layout, and review the output in a browser before sharing
  • Check that the bundled LICENSE file is kept alongside any copy, since the upstream template is MIT-licensed
