What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent to connect Slack to the Hive agent system so a stalled task can ping you on Slack and you can reply from Slack to keep it going. It walks the agent through creating (or reusing) a Slack app called Hive Sentinel in your own browser, copying its two access tokens, and storing them with the sentinel_setup tool, then creating a channel through the Slack API and turning notifications on. You are not asked to paste tokens yourself unless you prefer it.
Great for
- Developers running Hive colonies who want Slack alerts when a job gets stuck
- Teams that want to reply to a running agent from a Slack channel
- Users who already have Slack admin access to the workspace they want to alert in
Skip it if
- People who do not have permission to create or install Slack apps in their workspace, since the setup will fail or stall
- Anyone uncomfortable with an agent operating their logged-in browser and handling Slack bot and app tokens, which grant real access to the workspace
- Users who only want a one-off Slack message and not a persistent alerting channel
Try asking
- “Set up Slack notifications so I get pinged when a colony stalls”
- “Connect Slack for alerts to my Hive workspace”
- “Set up Sentinel on Slack and let me reply from the channel”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Check the Slack workspace you are signed into before starting, since the agent will create the app there.
- Let the agent reuse an existing Hive Sentinel app rather than creating duplicates.
- Review the manifest scopes (including channels:manage) and the tokens it stores, and revoke the app in Slack if you stop using Sentinel.
