What it does
Once installed, the agent can send a gene symbol, genomic region, or DNA/FASTA sequence to Genomic Intelligence's hosted DNA language models and return structured predictions: promoter regions, splice donor/acceptor sites, enhancer activity, chromatin state, expression as log TPM, and de-novo gene annotation. Nothing runs on your computer beyond simple API calls, so no GPU or model weights are needed. It is not for local sequence alignment, variant calling, or file handling; those belong to tools like BioPython or bcftools.
Great for
- Researchers exploring regulatory features of a DNA region before running wet-lab experiments
- Bioinformatics students who want quick model-based predictions without installing heavy tools
- Developers building pipelines that call a hosted genomics prediction API
Skip it if
- Clinical or diagnostic decisions, since the skill is explicitly for research and development use only
- Variant calling or sequence alignment, which this skill does not perform (use BioPython or bcftools)
- Sensitive or confidential sequence data, because sequences are sent to a third-party hosted service over the network
Try asking
- “Find the promoter regions in this 5 kb genomic region: chr1:100000-105000”
- “Predict log TPM expression for the BRCA1 gene in HepG2 cells”
- “Annotate the transcripts in this FASTA sequence de novo”
- “Score enhancer activity and chromatin state for this 1,000 bp DNA sequence”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip genomic-intelligence.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip genomic-intelligence.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Use the hosted MCP server where supported, since it works without a key and keeps large sequences out of the context window
- Check each task's minimum and maximum sequence length and required parameters (for example, expression needs a tss_index unless the sequence is exactly 9,198 bp) before submitting
- Never paste a real API key into chats or commit it; store it in the GI_API_KEY environment variable and expect 429 errors when rate caps are hit
