What it does

When installed, the agent walks you through connecting a domain you already own to a Convex-hosted app. It identifies the right target, works out which DNS records to create at your registrar (including a verification TXT record), attaches the domain in Convex, and updates auth settings like the site URL if your app uses sign-in. If you have a DNS command-line tool already logged in on your machine, the agent can offer to create the records for you, showing exact commands and waiting for your approval first.

Great for

  • Developers deploying a Convex app who want it served from their own domain
  • Teams moving an existing Convex site or app to a new custom domain
  • Anyone with passkey or OAuth sign-in who needs the auth origin updated after a domain change

Skip it if

  • Users who have not yet deployed a Convex app, since there is nothing to point a domain at
  • Anyone who wants the agent to manage registrar logins or passwords: the skill forbids handling those credentials, so this would not work and could be risky if attempted outside the skill
  • Live production domains without a backup plan: DNS changes are immediately user-visible and a mistake can take the site offline

Try asking

  • “Point my domain example.com at my Convex site and give me the exact DNS records to add at my registrar.”
  • “Use my authenticated Cloudflare CLI to create the CNAME and TXT records for app.mycompany.com.”
  • “My passkey sign-in broke after I moved to a new domain; rebind the auth origin settings.”
  • “Check with dig whether my custom domain DNS records have propagated.”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    convex-domains.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip convex-domains.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip convex-domains.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Have your registrar login ready yourself; the agent will not enter or store registrar credentials.
  • Read each command the agent proposes before approving it, since DNS changes affect live visitors.
  • After changing the domain, re-publish the app if you use sign-in, or sign-in will break.
