What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent to review a website for canonical URL tags, which tell search engines which version of a page is the preferred one when duplicates exist (for example through URL parameters, www vs non-www, or pagination). Once installed, the agent checks the rendered HTML and HTTP responses rather than only source files, flags routes or templates where the canonical tag is missing or wrong, and explains how to fix it.
Great for
- Front-end or full-stack developers preparing a site for search indexing
- SEO-minded marketers reviewing a site's technical metadata
- Teams running a pre-launch checklist on templates or routing
Skip it if
- Sites that are not publicly indexed, where canonical tags have no search effect (no benefit from this skill)
- Anyone expecting the skill to perform a full SEO audit; it covers only canonical URLs, and the files give no tooling beyond what the agent already has
- Using its output unverified on production sites, since the agent's suggested tag changes could affect search ranking if applied incorrectly
Try asking
- “Audit the canonical URLs on my site's product pages and tell me which templates are wrong.”
- “Check whether my rendered HTML and HTTP headers both point to the preferred www version.”
- “Review my Next.js metadata code for canonical tags and suggest fixes.”
- “Explain to my team why canonical tags help with duplicate content from URL parameters.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Point the agent at a specific URL or template folder so it can check real rendered output, not just guesses.
- Ask it to verify both the HTML tag and the HTTP response headers, since the skill asks for both.
- Read the referenced rule page for framework-specific examples before changing production code.
