What it does

When installed, the agent reviews a screen, flow or whole interface across accessibility, layout, writing, typography, color and visual polish. It hands each area to a specialised sibling skill, collects their evidence and produces one ranked report. Each finding must cite a file and line and show the current code, and severe issues such as unlabelled controls or keyboard traps are always ranked high. It does not review code changes or branches; those go to a separate user-invoked skill called interface-review.

Great for

  • Front-end developers who want a structured accessibility and UI audit of a page or flow before release
  • Designers checking a screen's layout, contrast and copy against consistent rules
  • Teams that want evidence-backed findings with file and line references rather than general style opinions

Skip it if

  • Reviewing uncommitted changes, branches or pull requests: the skill refuses to resolve these and asks the user to run interface-review instead
  • Anyone who expects it to work alone: it depends on six other better-* skills that are not included in the files reviewed, and domains whose skill is missing are reported as Not reviewed
  • Subjective style feedback: the skill is designed to ignore density, radius or voice preferences that are not rule violations

Try asking

  • “Review the checkout flow in this project for accessibility and layout problems and give me a ranked report”
  • “Audit the empty, loading and error states of the settings screen across all domains”
  • “Run a full interface review of the onboarding screens at 320px width and report escalation triggers first”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Better Interface ReviewInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    better-interface.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip better-interface.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip better-interface.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Name the screen or flow you want reviewed; the skill narrows large scopes to one complete flow and states what it excluded
  • Install the better-* sibling skills first, otherwise most domains will be marked Not reviewed
  • Note that the SKILL.md text reviewed for this assessment ends mid-sentence, and the other listed files were not included, so check the full skill before relying on it
