What it does

When installed, the agent gets a map of the agent-squad framework: how to set up an orchestrator that routes user requests to specialist AI agents, which agent types to choose (single assistant, grounded, chained, supervisor), and which pitfalls to avoid. It points to the source code and docs rather than replacing them, so the agent writes code that fits the library's conventions.

Great for

  • TypeScript developers building multi-agent chatbots or assistants on AWS Bedrock, Anthropic or OpenAI
  • Teams adding routing, chat storage or RAG retrievers to an existing Node.js app that uses agent-squad
  • Developers who want an AI coding assistant to avoid common agent-squad mistakes

Skip it if

  • Projects that do not use the agent-squad npm package, since the guidance is specific to its API (wrong framework for the task)
  • Python developers, because this skill covers only the TypeScript version
  • Production decisions made from this file alone: it states it is not an API reference, so signatures must be checked in the source

Try asking

  • “Build a Node.js app with a classifier that routes support questions to a billing agent and a tech agent using agent-squad”
  • “Add DynamoDB chat storage to my existing AgentSquad orchestrator”
  • “Use GroundedAgent so my pricing answers never drift from the database results”
  • “Wire an MCP tool server into a BedrockLLMAgent using MCPToolProvider”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    typescript.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip typescript.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip typescript.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Ask the agent to read the exact signatures in typescript/src/ before writing code, since the guide says it is not an API reference.
  • Describe the task shape first (one assistant, several specialists, fixed pipeline) so the agent picks the right agent class.
  • Install only the optional peer dependencies you need, and supply your own API keys through environment variables.
