What it is

Prompt Master is a skill for Claude that takes a rough request and turns it into a more precise prompt for a target AI tool, such as Claude Code, Midjourney, or Cursor. The README says the goal is fewer re-prompts and less wasted credit or token spend. It works by detecting the target tool, asking up to three clarifying questions when key information is missing, and delivering one copyable prompt.

  • Ask it to write a Midjourney prompt for a scene with specified lighting and aspect ratio
  • Turn a vague coding request into a structured prompt for Claude Code with a stated stack and done-when checklist
  • Fix a prompt you wrote for another model by asking it to rewrite the prompt
  • Adapt an existing prompt for a different tool such as Stable Diffusion

Great for

  • People who often re-prompt AI tools several times to get a usable result
  • Developers writing detailed build instructions for coding agents like Claude Code or Codex
  • Creators who want tool-specific image or video prompts for Midjourney, Runway, or Sora
  • Users who want prompts adapted to different models, such as Stable Diffusion or Gemini

Not ideal for

  • People who do not use Claude, since the README describes it as a Claude skill and install steps target claude.ai or Claude Code
  • Users expecting guaranteed better outputs, because the README shows examples but no measured results
  • People who want a standalone app or API rather than a skill loaded into Claude
Step-by-step guide: how to use Prompt MasterInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

How to get it

  1. 1

    Download the app

You'll need: A Claude.ai account with access to Skills, or Claude Code

Claude Code: clone into skills directory (README says not suggested)

    git clone https://github.com/nidhinjs/prompt-master.git ~/.claude/skills/prompt-master
  2. 2

    Run it

    • Download the repository as a ZIP from GitHub
    • In claude.ai, go to Sidebar → Customize → Skills → Upload a Skill
    • Start a chat and ask for a prompt, for example: Write me a prompt for Cursor to refactor my auth module
    • Or invoke it explicitly with /prompt-master
  3. 3

Get the most out of it

    • Name the target tool in your request so the skill routes to the right profile
    • Answer its clarifying questions, since it asks up to three when critical details are missing
    • Paste an existing bad prompt and ask for a fix to see its revision approach
    • Use the explicit /prompt-master invocation when you want the skill applied directly

Downloads

Strengths

  • Clear, documented pipeline: detect tool, extract intent, ask at most three questions, deliver one prompt
  • README includes worked before-and-after examples for image and coding prompts
  • Open-source under MIT with an active repository

Trade-offs

  • README claims like zero wasted tokens and full memory retention are asserted, not measured
  • Tool profile table is truncated in the README, so full coverage is unclear
  • Install instructions are brief and the README itself marks the Claude Code route as not suggested
