What it is
This is a set of structured workflows and commands that run inside Claude Code, Anthropic's command-line AI tool, to help with a job search. You fill in a personal profile, search job portals, score postings for fit, and generate tailored CVs (compiled with LaTeX) and cover letters, plus interview preparation. The project says it runs on your own machine and is meant to be forked and customized.
- Run /setup to build a profile from an existing CV or documents folder
- Use /scrape to search configured job portals and deduplicate results
- Use /rank to batch-score many postings and get a shortlist
- Use /apply on a job URL to produce a tailored CV and cover letter
Great for
- People comfortable using a command-line tool who want a structured, repeatable job application process
- Users who already have or are willing to pay for a Claude Code subscription or API credits
- People in the Danish job market, where the included portal search skills are built for Jobindex, Jobnet and similar boards
- Users who want to adapt the workflow to their own local job boards
Not ideal for
- People who want a point-and-click app: setup requires Claude Code, Python, Bun and a LaTeX distribution
- Users who cannot or will not give personal data such as employment history and salary expectations to a tool that writes them into tracked files in a public fork
- Anyone without a paid Claude plan or API budget, since the README says Claude Code has no free tier
How to get it
- 1
Clone and build from source
You'll need: Claude Code · Python 3.10+ · Bun · A LaTeX distribution with lualatex and xelatex · pypdf (optional)
Fork and clone the repository
gh repo fork ai-job-search-dev/ai-job-search --cloneInstall the job search tools
python3 tools/install_portal_clis.py - 2
Run it
- Start Claude Code by running claude in the repository folder
- Run /setup to create your profile from documents or a pasted CV
- Run /scrape to search job portals for matching positions
- Run /apply with a job URL to generate a tailored application
- 3
Get the most out of it
- Populate the documents/ folder before running /setup so it can read your real materials
- Use /rank when a scrape returns many results to get a ranked shortlist first
- Read SETUP.md for the minimal TeX install packages if you use TinyTeX or BasicTeX
- Use a private repository with this repo as upstream if the copy holds your personal data
Downloads
Strengths
- Runs locally in your own repository, with the workflow defined in plain files you can read and change
- Covers the whole process from profile to application to interview prep in one framework
- Released under the MIT license, so forking and modifying is permitted
Trade-offs
- Depends on Claude Code, which is a paid product, and on a LaTeX install that can be large and fiddly
- The job portal search skills are tailored to the Danish market; other regions need adaptation
- The README warns that a fork is public and that personal data written by /setup goes into tracked files unless you use a private copy
