Match cut video prompt pair

Generate two shots designed to cut together on a matching shape, motion or colour, so the edit feels clever instead of random.

You'll need: Access to a text-to-video model · A video editor

Fill in your details

Values are inserted into every prompt below. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

10 field(s) left — unfilled variables stay as {{placeholders}}.

  1. 1Brainstorm the match (optional)

If you don't have a match idea yet, ask a chat model for options first.

Suggest 5 match cut ideas that connect "{{scene_a}}" to "{{scene_b}}". For each, name the matching element (shape, motion, colour or sound), where it sits in frame, and the direction of movement at the cut point.
  2. 2Generate shot A and shot B

The two prompts share the same framing, position and motion direction for the matching element. Generate both, then cut on the frame where the shapes overlap best.

SHOT A: {{scene_a}}. {{match_element_a}} sits in the {{frame_position}} of frame, {{match_motion}}. Camera: {{camera}}. Lighting: {{lighting_a}}. Ends on a frame where {{match_element_a}} fills the {{frame_position}}. Duration 3 seconds, aspect ratio {{aspect_ratio}}.
Avoid: text, captions, watermarks, logos, extra limbs or fingers, warped faces, flicker, sudden cuts.

SHOT B: {{scene_b}}. {{match_element_b}} sits in the {{frame_position}} of frame, the same size and position as in shot A, {{match_motion}}. Camera: {{camera}}. Lighting: {{lighting_b}}. Starts on a frame where {{match_element_b}} fills the {{frame_position}}. Duration 3 seconds, aspect ratio {{aspect_ratio}}.
Avoid: text, captions, watermarks, logos, extra limbs or fingers, warped faces, flicker, sudden cuts.

Example input

Dandelion blown in a meadow to fireworks over a city; round white shape centre frame; drifting outward.

Example output

SHOT A: A child blows on a dandelion in a meadow. The round white dandelion head sits in the centre of frame, seeds or sparks drifting outward. Camera: static close-up, slight slow push-in. Lighting: soft golden afternoon light. Ends on a frame where the round white dandelion head fills the centre. Duration 3 seconds, aspect ratio 16:9. SHOT B: Fireworks burst over a city at night. A round white firework burst sits in the centre of frame, the same size and position as in shot A, seeds or sparks drifting outward. Camera: static close-up, slight slow push-in. Lighting: dark night sky lit by the burst. Starts on a frame where a round white firework burst fills the centre. Duration 3 seconds, aspect ratio 16:9.

Troubleshooting

  • The shapes don't line up: scale and reposition one clip slightly in the editor; small tweaks are invisible at the cut.
  • Motion directions differ: flip one clip horizontally if the scene allows it.
  • If your tool supports start/end frames, use shot A's last frame as a composition reference for shot B.

Known limitations

  • Exact positional matching is not guaranteed; plan on a few takes of shot B and some editor adjustment.
