Image-to-video motion prompt

Animate a still image without wrecking it: describe only the motion, camera and atmosphere, never re-describe what's already in the picture.

You'll need: An image-to-video model · A high-quality still image

Fill in your details

Values are inserted into every prompt below. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

5 field(s) left — unfilled variables stay as {{placeholders}}.

  1. 1Write a motion-only prompt

The image already defines subject, setting and style. Re-describing them often makes the model 'correct' your image. Keep to three layers: subject motion, environment motion and camera.

    Subject motion: {{subject_motion}}.
    Environment motion: {{environment_motion}}.
    Camera: {{camera}}.
Keep the subject's face, proportions, colours and clothing exactly as in the image. Motion is {{intensity}} and natural.
    Duration {{duration}}.
Avoid: text, captions, watermarks, logos, extra limbs or fingers, warped faces, flicker, sudden cuts, morphing, new objects appearing, changes to the original composition.
  2. 2Dial the intensity

Start with 'subtle'. If your tool has a motion strength or creativity slider, start low. Increase only after you have a stable take.

Example input

Still of a woman at a café table by a window; animate a head turn, steam and curtains, slow push-in.

Example output

Subject motion: the woman slowly turns her head toward the window and smiles slightly. Environment motion: steam rises from the coffee cup, curtains sway gently. Camera: slow push-in. Keep the subject's face, proportions, colours and clothing exactly as in the image. Motion is subtle and natural. Duration 5 seconds. Avoid: text, captions, watermarks, logos, extra limbs or fingers, warped faces, flicker, sudden cuts, morphing, new objects appearing, changes to the original composition.

Troubleshooting

  • The face changes: reduce motion, avoid big head turns, and keep the face larger in frame in the source image.
  • Nothing moves: name a specific motion with a verb ('steam rises', 'hair blows left').
  • Edges warp: crop the image so important details aren't at the frame edges.

Known limitations

  • Only animate images you own or have rights to; never animate photos of real people without consent.
  • Some tools ignore parts of the prompt in favour of the image; camera moves in the interface may work better.
