How to use the GEO Audit PDF Report agent skill
Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data
The geo-report-pdf skill is a formatting step for an agent. After a GEO (generative engine optimization) audit has produced a GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md file, the skill tells your agent how to turn that markdown into GEO-REPORT.pdf, a styled PDF with a cover page, color-coded score tables and severity-tagged findings. This guide is for people who have never used agent skills before, and it covers installation, requirements, triggering the skill, and its limits.
Quick start
- 1Install pandoc. Install pandoc with Homebrew using brew install pandoc.
- 2Confirm Chrome is installed. Check that Google Chrome is present at /Applications/Google Chrome.app/.
- 3Install the skill. Unzip the downloaded ZIP into ~/.claude/skills/ or a project's .claude/skills/ folder, or upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
- 4Create the audit. Run /geo audit <url> so that GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md exists in your working folder.
- 5Ask for the PDF. Request a PDF of the audit in plain language, for example asking the agent to convert the audit into a client-ready PDF.
- 6Review the output. Open GEO-REPORT.pdf from the current directory and check the cover details and score colors before sending.
What an agent skill is and what this one does
An agent skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file that gives an AI agent instructions for a specific task. When the agent sees a request that matches the skill, it follows those steps.
This skill only handles the conversion. It reads the audit report, extracts cover details such as brand name, domain, GEO score, date, business type, locations and CMS, builds a self-contained HTML file with pandoc, and then uses Google Chrome in headless print mode to save GEO-REPORT.pdf. It does not check the audit's content or create the audit.
- Cover page with brand name, domain, colored GEO score badge, date, business type, locations and CMS platform
- Score cells containing XX/100 colored by range (green, blue, amber, orange, red)
- Finding sections headed Critical, High, Medium or Low get colored left-border callouts
- Major sections start on new pages, and the footer shows brand, audit name, date and page numbers
Check the requirements before you install
The skill needs several things that are already in place before it can run. The source describes its setup with macOS and Homebrew in mind, so these steps may not apply on other systems.
- pandoc, installed with brew install pandoc
- Google Chrome installed at /Applications/Google Chrome.app/
- A GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md file in your current directory, produced by the /geo audit command
- The template and CSS files expected at ~/.claude/skills/geo/templates/ (geo-report-template.html and geo-report-style.css)
- The skill runs scripts and does not use the network
brew install pandocInstall the geo-report-pdf skill
Download the ZIP for this skill from this page and unzip it. To install it for yourself across projects, place the unzipped skill folder in ~/.claude/skills/. To limit it to one project, place it in that project's .claude/skills/ folder.
You can also upload the skill in the Claude apps. Go to Settings, then Capabilities, then Skills, and upload it there.
The skill folder contains a single file, SKILL.md. Note that the template and CSS files it depends on live under ~/.claude/skills/geo/templates/, so that folder must exist as well.
- Personal install: ~/.claude/skills/
- Project install: .claude/skills/ inside your project
- Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills
Create the audit report first
This skill cannot create an audit. Run the separate /geo audit step first, using a URL, so that GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md exists in the folder where you will run the PDF step. The skill looks for that exact file name in the current directory.
If the file is missing, the skill tells you to run /geo audit <url> before continuing.
/geo audit <url>Trigger the skill with a natural request
Once the skill is installed and the audit file is present, ask the agent in plain language. The source does not list exact trigger phrases, so a clear request that names the report and the PDF should be enough. For example:
Convert my GEO audit into a PDF I can send to the client.
The agent will read the report, extract the cover details, run pandoc and then Chrome, and report back.
- Make a client-ready PDF from GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md.
- Generate GEO-REPORT.pdf from the audit in this folder.
- Open the PDF once it is done so I can preview it.
What the agent does step by step
The agent first checks for GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md. It then reads the top of the report to pull out brand name, domain, score, score label, date, business type, locations and platform. Any field it cannot find is left out, and the template uses its own defaults.
Next it runs pandoc to produce GEO-REPORT.html, then runs Chrome headless to print that HTML to GEO-REPORT.pdf in the current directory. Finally it reports the file size and can optionally open the PDF.
If the PDF comes out blank, the source suggests increasing the virtual time budget to 8000.
- Output files: GEO-REPORT.html and GEO-REPORT.pdf
Safety notes: scripts and network
The skill runs scripts. It uses Bash to call pandoc and Chrome, and it writes files in the current directory. Read SKILL.md before installing any skill from a source you do not already trust, so you know exactly which commands will run.
The source states that the skill does not use the network. The PDF is rendered offline, and the source says system fonts are used as a fallback, so missing web fonts are expected and not a fault.
- Runs scripts: yes (pandoc and Chrome via Bash)
- Uses network: no
- Allowed tools listed in the skill: Read, Grep, Glob, Bash, Write
Customize the look of the report
You can change the colors and typography by editing geo-report-style.css, and the cover layout by editing geo-report-template.html, both in ~/.claude/skills/geo/templates/. Score color thresholds are set in the scoreColor() function in the template's script block, and page-break sections are set in the breakBefore array in the same script.
- Colors and typography: geo-report-style.css
- Cover layout: geo-report-template.html
- Score thresholds: scoreColor() function
- Page breaks: breakBefore array
What people use it for
- Turning a GEO audit for a local business into a branded PDF to send to the client
- Producing a shareable deliverable from an audit run with the geo-seo-claude workflow
- Regenerating the PDF after editing the template colors or cover layout
- Sending a score summary and 90-day roadmap to a client as a single file
Frequently asked questions
Is the geo-report-pdf skill free?
The skill is listed under the MIT licence. The source does not state prices for pandoc or Chrome, so check those tools' own terms if you have questions about them.
What do I need to install before using geo-report-pdf?
You need pandoc (installed with brew install pandoc), Google Chrome at /Applications/Google Chrome.app/, a GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md file from /geo audit, and the template and CSS files under ~/.claude/skills/geo/templates/.
Does this skill work on Windows or Linux?
The source says no. The Chrome path is hard-coded for macOS and the setup steps assume Homebrew, so the skill is written for macOS users.
Why does the skill say GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md is missing?
The skill only formats an existing audit. Run /geo audit <url> first to create GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md in the current directory, then run the PDF step again.
Why is my PDF blank or empty?
The source suggests increasing --virtual-time-budget to 8000 in the Chrome command. If cover details are missing, check that GEO-AUDIT-REPORT.md has the standard header format.
Does the skill check whether my audit is accurate?
No. It is a formatting step, not an analysis step, so it converts whatever the audit says and does not check the content.

Our verdict
Use geo-report-pdf if you are on macOS, already run the geo-seo-claude audit workflow, and need a branded PDF to send to clients. Pick something else if you are on Windows or Linux, have no audit file yet, or want the skill to analyse or create the audit itself.
