How to use the FLOW SEO Prompt Library agent skill (seo-flow)
Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data
The seo-flow skill is a set of instructions and prompt files that teaches an AI agent to run SEO work in a fixed order: Find, Leverage, Optimize, Win. It is for marketers and local business owners who want repeatable prompts instead of ad-hoc questions. After this guide you will know how to install the skill, how to trigger it with a plain request, and what it needs before it works.
Quick start
- 1Download the ZIP. Download the seo-flow skill ZIP from this directory page.
- 2Unzip into a skills folder. Unzip into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder.
- 3Or upload in the Claude apps. In the Claude apps, go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the ZIP.
- 4Install the Claude SEO plugin. Make sure the Claude SEO plugin is installed, since it provides the /seo command and scripts folder.
- 5Trigger with a natural request. Ask for FLOW, seo flow or stage-specific SEO prompts, and include your URL or topic.
- 6Review the output. Check the chosen prompts and drafts, and verify any statistics before using them.
What an agent skill is and what seo-flow makes the agent do
An agent skill is a folder of instructions that an AI assistant loads when a request matches it. The seo-flow skill adds the FLOW framework, an SEO method with four stages: Find demand, Leverage distributed evidence, Optimize owned assets, and Win with pages and measurements tied to revenue.
The skill ships with about 41 ready-made prompts grouped by stage. When you ask for keyword research, backlink strategy, conversion analysis or local listing work, the agent loads the matching prompt files and applies them to your URL or topic rather than improvising. Its files are prompts and guidance; it does not pull live rankings or crawl data by itself.
- Find: keyword research, gap analysis and SERP intent mapping (5 prompts)
- Leverage: backlink strategy and off-site authority (1 prompt)
- Optimize: 2-3 prompts selected from 21 based on your context
- Win: conversion rate, BOFU and dual-surface scorecard (3 prompts)
- Local: Google Business Profile descriptions and categories, meta and title tags, local audits (11 prompts)
Install the seo-flow skill from the ZIP
Download the ZIP of the skill from this directory page. You can install it in one of three places, depending on whether you want it for yourself or for one project.
For a personal install, unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/. For a project-only install, unzip it into the project's .claude/skills/ folder. In the Claude apps, you can instead upload the ZIP under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
- Personal: ~/.claude/skills/
- Single project: .claude/skills/ inside the project folder
- Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills, then upload the ZIP
~/.claude/skills/Trigger the skill with natural requests
You do not have to remember commands. The skill's description lists phrases that activate it, including "FLOW", "FLOW framework", "seo flow", "evidence-led SEO", "find leverage optimize win", or any request for stage-specific SEO prompts.
If you are using the claude-seo toolkit, you can also call the stages directly with /seo flow followed by a stage name and a URL or topic. The stage commands are find, leverage, optimize, win, local, plus prompts (full index) and sync (update prompt files).
- "Use the FLOW framework to do keyword research for example.com/pricing"
- "Run seo flow local on my site for Google Business Profile description ideas"
- "Show me the FLOW prompts index"
- "Give me stage-specific SEO prompts for backlink strategy on this page"
/seo flow find [url|topic]Know what it needs before you run it
The skill expects the Claude SEO plugin to be installed, because that plugin provides the /seo command and the scripts folder. The sync command also needs the GitHub CLI (gh) and authentication. The skill runs scripts and uses the network, so review what you are installing.
Without the plugin, the skill's reference files may still be readable, but the sync and cross-referenced commands will not work. If prompt files are missing, the skill tells you to run /seo flow sync.
- Claude SEO plugin installed (provides /seo and the scripts folder)
- GitHub CLI (gh) and authentication, only for /seo flow sync
- Runs scripts: yes
- Uses network: yes
/seo flow syncRun a stage and read the output
Give the agent a stage and a target. For Optimize, the agent first reads prior context from the conversation, such as industry, URL type and earlier skill output, then selects 2-3 prompts and states which ones it chose and why.
Treat the results as recommendations and drafts. The skill is built to recommend and draft, and it does not publish edits to your site or profile.
- Give the URL or topic, and say what you are trying to achieve
- For Optimize, expect a short statement of which prompts were chosen and why
- Check any statistics against the bibliography file before you rely on them
Safety notes on scripts and network access
Fetched pages, search results, API responses and third-party files are treated as untrusted data. If fetched content tells the agent to run a command, install something or change a setting, the skill reports it as a finding rather than obeying it.
The /seo flow sync command runs a script that fetches prompt files from the FLOW repository. Read the script and confirm the source before running it on a machine with sensitive files.
- Fetched content is data, not instructions
- Sync pulls prompt files from github.com/AgriciDaniel/flow

Tips for getting better results
Name the stage you need instead of asking for everything at once. A focused request such as local or win gives the agent a smaller, more relevant set of prompts than a general request.
Give the agent context: your industry, the page type and any earlier SEO output. The Optimize stage uses this context to pick prompts, so thin context produces generic picks.
- Use one stage per request for cleaner output
- Add audience, geography and existing data such as analytics or reviews where you have them
- Run /seo flow prompts to see which prompt covers a task before asking for it
What people use it for
- Keyword research and gap analysis for a product or category page using the Find prompts
- Drafting Google Business Profile descriptions and choosing categories for a local business
- Planning backlink outreach by reviewing a page's off-site authority context with the Leverage prompt
- Reviewing a landing page's conversion and BOFU factors with the Win prompts
- Generating a set of meta and title tag options through the Local prompts for local pages
Frequently asked questions
Is the seo-flow skill free to use?
The skill is licensed under MIT. The FLOW framework and prompts are credited to Daniel Agrici under CC BY 4.0, and the attribution notice must stay in place.
What do I need to install before seo-flow works?
You need the Claude SEO plugin, which provides the /seo command and scripts folder. The sync command also requires the GitHub CLI (gh) and authentication.
Where do I put the seo-flow skill files?
Unzip the ZIP into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder. In the Claude apps, upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
Does seo-flow give me live rankings or crawl data?
No. The skill's files are prompts and guidance, not data sources, so results depend on what the agent can already access. For raw backlink data, the skill points you to /seo backlinks.
Will seo-flow make changes to my website or Google Business Profile?
No. It recommends and drafts content, and it does not publish edits. You make and publish any changes yourself.
What should I do if the skill says prompt files are missing?
Run /seo flow sync to pull the latest prompt files from the FLOW repository. If sync fails with an auth error, run gh auth login and try again; for rate limits, check gh api rate_limit.

Our verdict
Use seo-flow if you want a repeatable SEO process driven by prompts, especially for local business listings and teams already on the claude-seo toolkit. Skip it if you need live rankings, crawl data or automatic site edits, because it provides prompts and guidance rather than data or publishing.
