How to use the dayu-upload agent skill for Dayu Hao (大鱼号)

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

dayu-upload is an agent skill that teaches an AI agent to publish videos and articles to the Chinese platform Dayu Hao (大鱼号) by running the sau command-line tool from the social-auto-upload project, rather than writing its own web automation. This guide explains what the skill does, how to install it, how to ask for things in plain language, and what you need before it will work. By the end you will know how to set up the skill, what the agent will ask you before publishing, and how to check that a post went through.

Quick start

  1. 1Install sau and the skill. Install social-auto-upload so the sau command is on your PATH, then download the dayu-upload ZIP and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ or a project's .claude/skills/ folder.
  2. 2Confirm the CLI works. Run sau dayu --help from the project root to confirm the Dayu Hao commands are available.
  3. 3Log in to your account. Run the login command with your local account name and expected Dayu Hao name, then complete the login in the Chrome window that opens.
  4. 4Ask for a post in plain language. Tell the agent what to publish, the file, the title and the timing. Answer any questions it asks about category, source label or schedule.
  5. 5Confirm the timing and intent. If you want a schedule, give a Beijing time between 2 hours and 7 days from now on a 5-minute mark. Confirm you want it published.
  6. 6Check the result. Keep the result file and post ID the command produces, and ask the agent to verify the post if the outcome is unclear.

What the dayu-upload skill makes the agent do

The skill covers five jobs on Dayu Hao: logging in, checking an account, publishing videos, publishing articles, and looking up the result of a post. Publishing can happen immediately or on a schedule. Articles can be supplied as HTML, Markdown or TXT files, and Markdown articles can use one of several themes.

The skill is written for environments where the sau CLI is already installed. The agent does not need to read the uploader source code to use it.

  • Log in through a Chrome window that the tool opens and you control
  • Check that a saved local account is still logged in
  • Upload videos with a title, cover image, category and source label
  • Upload articles from HTML, Markdown or TXT files, with optional scheduling
  • Look up a previous post by its ID or by a saved result file

What you need before installing

The skill does not work on its own. You need a Python environment with social-auto-upload installed and the sau command available on your PATH. On Windows, the skill can use the sau.exe file inside the project's .venv Scripts folder instead.

You also need a Dayu Hao creator account, which you log in to through a Chrome window opened by the tool. Markdown article rendering needs Node.js 22 or later, and that is only required for the first-time sau article setup.

  • Python environment with social-auto-upload installed and the sau CLI on PATH (or .venv Scripts on Windows)
  • A Dayu Hao creator account
  • Chrome login through a window opened by the tool
  • Node.js 22+ for Markdown article rendering during first-time sau article setup

How to install the skill

Download the dayu-upload ZIP from the skill page on this site and unzip it. Put the unzipped folder in ~/.claude/skills/ to make it available to Claude across your projects, or in a project's .claude/skills/ folder to limit it to that project.

If you use the Claude apps instead, open Settings, go to Capabilities, then Skills, and upload the skill there.

The package includes SKILL.md, which holds the instructions the agent follows, and two example files in scripts/examples/: dayu_commands.sh and dayu_cli_template.py. The examples are copy-paste references, not files the skill needs to run.

  • Download the ZIP from the skill page
  • Unzip into ~/.claude/skills/ (all projects) or .claude/skills/ (one project)
  • Or upload it in the Claude apps under Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Check the sau CLI and log in to your account

Before publishing, the agent runs the sau help command to confirm the CLI is available. Exact flags are taken from the CLI's own help output, so the agent checks those rather than relying on memorised options. Run these from the project root in a repository setup.

For an account that is already set up, the agent runs a check. The first time, or when a login has expired, it runs a login command with the Dayu Hao name you expect. You then log in in the Chrome window that opens. The CLI binds the publishing account to that name and refuses a mismatched account.

sau dayu --help sau dayu check --account <本地账号名> sau dayu login --account <本地账号名> --expected-name "用户指定的大鱼号名称"

How to trigger the skill with natural requests

You do not need to type commands. Describe what you want in plain language and name the file, title and timing. The agent will ask for anything missing, such as the category, the source label or a schedule time, before it publishes.

The agent treats publishing as a real action on a live platform. It needs clear intent from you before it runs an upload, and it only publishes without a further question if you have already given that approval in your request.

  • Publish video.mp4 to my Dayu Hao account as a video titled with my chosen title, using cover.jpg as the thumbnail
  • Upload article.md as an article with the theme modern, and publish it immediately
  • Schedule this article for a specific Beijing time on a given date
  • Check whether my saved Dayu Hao account is still logged in
  • Only prepare this video and show me the form, do not publish

Rules the skill applies to videos, articles and schedules

Videos need a file, title, thumbnail, category and source label. The video must be at least 5 seconds long, the title must be 5 to 60 characters (English counts as half-width characters), and the cover image can be up to 5 MB. The category must come from the choices the CLI offers.

Articles need a title, a content file and a source label. The title is 5 to 50 characters, and the body can be up to 20,000 characters. Long text belongs in a file, not on the command line. Local image paths are resolved relative to the folder containing the article file.

Scheduled times are read as Beijing time (Asia/Shanghai, UTC+8). They must be between 2 hours and 7 days from now, and minutes must be a multiple of 5. The platform confirms a schedule when it accepts the post; it does not wait for the scheduled time, review or public visibility. Platform review can delay the actual public time.

  • Source labels: 无需标注, AI生成, 虚构演绎, 营销信息, 转载, 个人观点, 不适宜未成年人
  • If the source is 转载 (reprint), you must also give the original URL
  • Markdown theme options: default, grace, simple, modern, plain

What to do if a post's outcome is unclear

If an upload times out or the result is unknown, the skill is designed to look up the original post rather than run the upload or publish again. Re-running can create a duplicate post. The skill also keeps the result file and the post ID from each command so the lookup can be matched to the right item.

If there is no ID to look up, the agent reports the specific error and asks you to check the Dayu Hao back office. It does not guess that the post failed and send it again.

  • Look up the original result file rather than republishing
  • Use the post ID with the article or video type if you have it
  • Add the public check flag only when you specifically want to confirm public content or play counts
sau dayu verify --account <本地账号名> --result "本次结果文件.json" --timeout 60 sau dayu verify --account <本地账号名> --type article --content-id "作品ID"

What people use it for

  • A creator publishes a finished video with a cover image and category, then asks for a check of the result file.
  • An operator schedules several articles on a set Beijing time, keeping each result file for records.
  • Someone uses prepare-only mode to upload a video, fill the form and save a local screenshot, without publishing.
  • A writer keeps a Markdown article in a file, previews the rendered HTML locally, then publishes it with the modern theme.
  • A team checks whether a saved account is still logged in before a batch of publishing work.

Frequently asked questions

Is the dayu-upload skill free to use?

The skill's listing states the MIT licence. The SKILL.md metadata in the package says MIT-0, so check the LICENSE file in the source repository for the licence terms you rely on. You still need your own Dayu Hao creator account and a working social-auto-upload setup.

What do I need to install before dayu-upload works?

You need a Python environment with social-auto-upload installed and the sau CLI on your PATH, plus a Dayu Hao creator account. Node.js 22 or later is needed only for first-time Markdown article rendering setup.

How do I install the dayu-upload skill?

Download the ZIP from the skill page on this site and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ for all projects, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder. In the Claude apps you can instead upload it under Settings, Capabilities, Skills.

Does the skill publish automatically without asking?

No. The skill is written to need clear intent before it publishes, and it asks for missing details such as category, source label and schedule. Commands create real public posts, so review your request before the agent runs it.

Why does the skill need the sau CLI instead of driving the website itself?

The skill tells the agent to use sau dayu rather than writing its own web automation. The CLI handles login binding, form checks and result files, so the agent follows one documented workflow instead of custom page scripts.

What should I do if an upload timed out?

Do not run the upload again. Use the verify command with your saved result file or the post ID to look up the original post. If neither is available, check the Dayu Hao back office.

Our verdict

Use dayu-upload if you already publish to Dayu Hao, have social-auto-upload and the sau CLI working, and want an agent to handle uploads, scheduling and result checks with clear confirmation steps. Pick something else if you have not set up sau, want unattended bulk posting, or need features the skill says are not yet supported, such as vertical covers, a material library, document import, in-body videos or standalone draft saving.
