How to use the Danish Job Search agent skill (jobdanmark-search)

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

The jobdanmark-search skill lets an AI agent search and read job postings on Jobdanmark.dk, Denmark's public job portal. It is written for people looking for work, internships, apprenticeships or student jobs in Denmark, and for recruiters and newcomers who want an overview of listings. After this guide you will know what an agent skill is, how to install this one, how to ask for jobs in natural language, and what to check before relying on the results.

Quick start

  1. 1Get the skill files. Download the ZIP from the directory page, or prepare the skill in the Claude apps by uploading it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
  2. 2Unzip into a skills folder. Place the folder in ~/.claude/skills/ for all projects, or in .claude/skills/ inside a single project.
  3. 3Install Bun and the CLI dependencies. Install the Bun runtime, then run bun install inside the skill's cli folder.
  4. 4Enable the skill if needed. The skill ships with enabled set to false, so set it to true in SKILL.md if you are not using the Denmark setup.
  5. 5Ask a natural question. Request jobs in plain language, such as asking for full-time IT jobs in Copenhagen.
  6. 6Open a posting. Ask the agent for details on a result, which runs detail with that posting's slug to show the description and deadline.

What is an agent skill and what does this one do?

An agent skill is a folder of instructions and tools that an AI agent can load when a request matches its description. This skill is defined by a SKILL.md file. When you ask about jobs in Denmark, the agent runs a bundled command-line tool written in TypeScript that queries the public data behind Jobdanmark.dk.

The skill can search listings by keyword, city, municipality, zip code, region, category or job type. It can also open a single posting to read its description and deadline, list the job categories with current live counts, and suggest exact job titles and locations to make searches more precise. No account or API key is needed.

  • Search listings by keyword, location, category and job type
  • Read full postings, including description and deadline
  • List the 10 job categories with live job counts
  • Look up job title, category and location IDs for precise filters

Install the jobdanmark-search skill

You can install the skill in one of three places. Download the ZIP from the directory page and unzip it into your personal skills folder, ~/.claude/skills/, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder. Alternatively, in the Claude apps, open Settings, go to Capabilities and upload the skill under Skills.

The CLI needs the Bun runtime, because the skill runs bun run on a TypeScript file. The bundled README gives the install step for the cli folder, which you run from the skill directory.

The skill ships disabled. Its SKILL.md notes that it is a Danish demo portal and is opt-in, so set enabled to true in the frontmatter yourself if you want it active outside a Denmark setup.

  • Download the ZIP from the directory page
  • Unzip into ~/.claude/skills/ for all projects, or into .claude/skills/ inside one project
  • Or upload it in the Claude apps under Settings → Capabilities → Skills
  • Make sure Bun is installed before first use
cd .agents/skills/jobdanmark-search/cli bun install

How to trigger the skill with natural requests

You do not need to name the skill. The description tells the agent to use it for anything about Danish job listings, job search in Denmark, or vacancies on Jobdanmark, even without the word jobdanmark.dk. It also matches Danish phrases such as jobsøgning, ledige stillinger, studiejob and praktikplads.

Write requests the way you would ask a person. Naming a city, a job type or a field helps the agent pick the right filters.

  • "Find IT jobs in Copenhagen that are full-time"
  • "Are there any student jobs in Aarhus?"
  • "Show me the job categories with the most listings right now"
  • "Open the full posting for the IT manager job and tell me the deadline"
  • "Compare nursing jobs in two municipalities"

Commands the agent runs

The agent calls the CLI with one of five commands. You can run them yourself to see the raw output. Each accepts --format json, table or plain. Search results come 30 per page; use --page to move through them and --limit to cap output.

Job type values are fuldtid, deltid, fleksjob, elev, studiejob and praktik. Filters can be combined in one search.

  • search: filter listings with flags such as --text, --category, --municipality, --zip, --job-type
  • detail <slug>: full posting, using the slug from a search result
  • categories: all 10 categories with live counts
  • autocomplete --query: find job title or category IDs
  • locations --query: find municipality, zip, region or administrative region names
bun run .agents/skills/jobdanmark-search/cli/src/cli.ts search --text "sygeplejerske" --category 227975 --format table

Worked examples

A typical session is search, then detail. The agent finds matching jobs and their slugs, then opens the one you pick. The skill also recommends resolving locations and job titles first so that filter values are correct. A location value passed under the wrong flag matches no jobs.

  • Copenhagen IT full-time jobs: search with --category 227978, --municipality "København" and --job-type fuldtid
  • Student jobs in Aarhus: search with --municipality "Aarhus" and --job-type studiejob
  • Electrician jobs, full-time or part-time: search with --text "elektriker", --category 227973 and --job-type "fuldtid, deltid"
  • Jobs in zip code 8000: search with --zip 8000
bun run .agents/skills/jobdanmark-search/cli/src/cli.ts locations --query "Aarhus" --format plain

Safety notes: scripts and network access

This skill runs scripts and uses the network. It needs network access to the Jobdanmark.dk public API. Its allowed tool is limited to running bun run on the jobdanmark-search cli.ts file. The source does not describe any write actions.

The skill only reads listings. It does not submit applications on your behalf, does not check employer legitimacy, and does not verify salary figures. The data is passed through from the portal as-is. Errors are written to stderr as JSON with exit code 1, which helps when something fails.

  • Requires Bun and network access to jobdanmark.dk
  • Runs scripts (bun run on the bundled CLI) and uses the network
  • Read-only in purpose: it does not apply for jobs
  • Verify employer and salary details yourself before acting on them

Tips for better results

Resolve the municipality or zip code with locations first, and resolve job titles with autocomplete when you want a specific role. Use table format for comparisons and json when you want to process the data. Pagination is fixed at 30 items per page, so ask for the next page instead of expecting more per request.

  • Use --format table to compare, json to process, plain for one posting
  • Try a Danish keyword as well as an English one, for example sygeplejerske or nurse
  • Combine --text, --job-type and a location in one search

What people use it for

  • Finding full-time or part-time work in a chosen city such as Odense or Aalborg
  • Finding student jobs, apprenticeships or internships in a specific municipality
  • Comparing job counts across the 10 categories for a market overview
  • Newcomers comparing job options across several municipalities or regions
  • Reading the description and deadline of a posting before deciding whether to apply on the portal

Frequently asked questions

Is the jobdanmark-search skill free?

The source does not state a licence fee for the skill. The skill's repository is listed under the MIT licence, and no account or API key is needed to query the public data.

Do I need an API key or account?

No. The source says the Jobdanmark.dk public API needs no authentication, and the CLI uses only the public endpoints.

What do I need to install it?

You need the Bun runtime to run the TypeScript CLI, network access to jobdanmark.dk, and the skill folder placed in ~/.claude/skills/ or a project's .claude/skills/ folder.

Can the skill apply for jobs for me?

No. The skill only reads listings and does not submit applications. You apply on the portal or through the employer.

Why does the skill not show up or run?

Check that Bun is installed, that bun install was run in the cli folder, and that the SKILL.md setting enabled is true. The CLI writes errors to stderr as JSON with exit code 1, which shows the cause.

Does it work for jobs outside Denmark?

No. The skill is built only for Jobdanmark.dk listings, so it is not suited to other countries.
