How to use the Commercial Skills Orchestrator agent skill
Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data
The commercial-skills agent skill is a router for commercial decisions such as pricing models, discount approvals, deal review, partnership economics, channel mix, commercial policy, RFP/RFI responses and bookings forecasts. It is for sales leaders, revenue operations staff and founders who want structured decision support before they approve a deal or change prices. After this guide you will know what the skill does, how to install it, how to phrase a request so it triggers, and what limits to keep in mind.
Quick start
- 1Download the ZIP. Get the commercial-skills ZIP from the directory page.
- 2Unzip into a skills folder. Place the contents in ~/.claude/skills/ for all projects, or in the project's .claude/skills/ folder for one project.
- 3Or upload in the Claude apps. In the Claude apps, go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills and upload the skill.
- 4Confirm the supporting files are present. Check that the sub-skill files and references/ folder are in place, since they are not included in the reviewed SKILL.md file.
- 5Ask a commercial question. Describe the decision in plain language, using a trigger phrase such as 'review this deal' or 'RFP response'.
- 6Answer the clarifying question. If the agent asks one question with a recommended answer, confirm it or override it.
- 7Review the digest. Read the findings, next actions and challenge question, then make the final decision yourself.
What an agent skill is and what this one does
An agent skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file that tells a compatible AI agent when and how to perform a task. The agent reads the file and follows its instructions when your request matches the skill's description.
When you ask about a commercial question, this skill does not answer it alone. It asks one clarifying question if the request is ambiguous, then hands the work to one of seven specialist sub-skills in a separate forked context. It then returns a short digest with findings, next actions and one challenge question.
- pricing-strategist: pricing and packaging questions
- deal-desk: discount and deal approval questions
- partnerships-architect: partner and reseller agreements
- channel-economics: whether a channel mix is profitable
- commercial-policy: discount matrices and exception policy
- rfp-responder: RFP, RFI and questionnaire responses
- commercial-forecaster: bookings, billings and ARR forecasts
Install the commercial-skills skill
Download the ZIP for the commercial-skills skill from the directory page. Unzip it into your personal skills folder at ~/.claude/skills/, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder if you want the skill available only in that project.
In the Claude apps, you can instead upload the skill under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.

Check the requirements before you rely on it
The skill needs a SKILL.md-compatible agent runtime. The reviewed file does not name any API keys or accounts.
The reviewed file contains only SKILL.md. The skill also depends on sub-skill files and a references/ folder that SKILL.md points to, and those are not included in the reviewed file. If they are missing from your install, the routing will not have anything to hand the work to.
The reviewed file states that it does not run scripts and does not use the network.
- A SKILL.md-compatible agent runtime
- The sub-skill files and references/ folder referenced by SKILL.md
- No API keys or accounts named in the reviewed file
How to trigger the skill with natural requests
Describe the decision in plain language and name the commercial topic. The skill is designed to trigger on phrases such as 'review this deal', 'should we discount', 'pricing model', 'partner economics', 'RFP response', 'bookings forecast' and 'channel mix'.
If your request fits only one area, the agent routes it directly. If it is ambiguous, the agent asks one question with a recommended answer and waits for you to confirm or override it. Where a request crosses two areas, the agent runs the stronger one first and asks before running the second.
- 'Can we approve a 40% discount on this Enterprise deal?' goes to deal-desk
- 'We are losing deals on price, should we drop prices or repackage?' goes to pricing-strategist
- 'Help me respond to this 60-page RFP' goes to rfp-responder
- 'What is our Q4 bookings forecast at current conversion?' goes to commercial-forecaster
- Attach or name the relevant file, such as a pipeline export or RFP document, so the agent can use it
Read the digest and make the decision yourself
The digest is capped at about 200 words. It contains the analysis, the top three findings with their supporting citations, the top three next actions with a named approver where one applies, the artifact path, and one challenge question.
The skill is decision support. It does not auto-approve deals. The human still approves prices, deals and partners, and the skill is not a substitute for a qualified lawyer on contract terms.
- Use the findings to check your own assumptions, such as whether margin was modeled after discount
- Answer the challenge question before acting on the recommendation
- Do not treat cited books or benchmarks as verified facts unless you check their source yourself
What people use it for
- Reviewing a discount request on an Enterprise deal before it goes to approval
- Comparing pricing models or packaging changes after losing deals on price
- Checking whether a partner channel is profitable compared with direct sales
- Structuring an RFP response for a long questionnaire or RFP document
- Building a quarterly bookings forecast from a pipeline export
Frequently asked questions
How do I install the commercial-skills agent skill?
Download the ZIP from the directory page and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder for one project. In the Claude apps, you can upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills instead.
What do I need to run the commercial-skills skill?
You need a SKILL.md-compatible agent runtime. The reviewed file names no API keys or accounts, but the sub-skill files and references/ folder it depends on are not included in that file, so check they are present.
Is the commercial-skills skill free?
The reviewed file lists the licence as MIT. The source does not state a price, so check the directory page for any cost information.
Does the skill approve discounts or deals for me?
No. The skill is explicitly decision support and does not auto-approve deals. A human must approve prices, deals and partners.
Can it replace a lawyer for contract terms?
No. Legal review of contract terms or MSAs needs a qualified lawyer. The skill only references T&Cs in its routing.
How is this different from the business-growth or cro-advisor skills?
The reviewed file says business-growth covers sales execution, while cro-advisor covers strategic CRO judgment such as when to hire a VP Sales. This skill covers tactical per-deal economics, such as whether to approve a specific discount.

Our verdict
Use this skill if you are a sales leader, revenue operations person or founder who wants a structured, cited review of a discount, pricing model, partner, RFP or forecast before you decide. Pick something else if you need final approvals, legal review of contract terms, or a tool that stores deal history, since the skill does none of those.
