How to use the AIHOT Chinese AI News agent skill
Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data
The aihot skill lets an AI agent answer questions about Chinese-language AI industry news by querying the AIHOT service (aihot.news) in real time, rather than relying on what the model remembers. It is aimed at people who want a quick, current summary of AI news, and at developers who want a news feed inside an agent workflow. By the end of this guide you will know what an agent skill is, how to install this one, how to ask for news in plain language, and what the skill does on your machine.
Quick start
- 1Download the ZIP. Download the skill ZIP from the page where you found this guide.
- 2Unzip the folder. Unzip it so the folder contains SKILL.md, agents/openai.yaml, install.sh, README.md and the licence file.
- 3Place it in the skills folder. Move the aihot folder into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder for one project.
- 4Or upload it in the Claude apps. In the Claude apps, open Settings, go to Capabilities, then Skills, and upload the skill.
- 5Ask a news question. Ask something like 'What happened in AI today?' and the agent will query AIHOT live and summarise the results.
What an agent skill is and what the aihot skill makes the agent do
An agent skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file of instructions that an AI agent loads when a request matches the skill's description. The agent then follows those instructions for that kind of request.
The aihot skill covers questions about what happened in AI today or recently, AI news and daily digests, model and AI product launches, news about companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, the hottest current AI events and their background, AI model rankings, Codex quota resets, and other AI industry news. For these questions the agent must query AIHOT live and must not answer from memory. The skill needs no API key and only reads data.
- Latest AI highlights from the past 24 hours, or from the past week
- Search by company, product, model, person or topic
- Current hot events
- The AIHOT daily digest
Install the aihot skill from the ZIP or the Claude apps
Download the ZIP of the skill from the page where you found this guide, then unzip it. The folder should contain SKILL.md, agents/openai.yaml, install.sh, README.md and the licence file.
For a personal setup in Claude Code, place the unzipped aihot folder inside ~/.claude/skills/. To limit it to one project, place it inside that project's .claude/skills/ folder instead.
If you use the Claude apps, open Settings, go to Capabilities, then Skills, and upload the skill there.
- Personal, all projects: ~/.claude/skills/aihot
- Single project: .claude/skills/aihot inside the project folder
- Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills, then upload
How to trigger the skill with natural requests
You do not need a special command. Ask the agent a normal question about AI news and the skill's description should match it. Asking for the latest news, a company, a model, a hot event, a daily digest or model rankings are all good triggers.
For follow-up questions, such as the background of an event, a daily digest from another date, or more items, the agent continues with the address or parameters that AIHOT returned in its previous answer.
- What happened in AI today?
- Give me this week's AI news summary in Chinese.
- What is the latest on OpenAI?
- What are the hottest AI events right now, and how did they start?
- Show me today's AIHOT daily digest.
- What do the current AI model rankings look like?
What the agent queries behind the scenes
The skill maps each kind of question to an AIHOT address. For anything not listed, the agent first reads the usage guide at https://aihot.news/api/v1/agent, which lists everything AIHOT currently supports, and it reads that guide once per session. Requests are GET requests made with curl, or with the agent's web-reading tool if no command line is available.
The skill also sends a User-Agent header identifying itself. Results come back as formatted Chinese Markdown, which the agent summarises for you.
- Latest: https://aihot.news/api/v1/agent/latest
- Past week: https://aihot.news/api/v1/agent/latest?window=7d
- Search: https://aihot.news/api/v1/agent/search?q=keyword (keyword is URL-encoded)
- Hot events: https://aihot.news/api/v1/agent/hot
- Daily digest: https://aihot.news/api/v1/agent/daily
curl -sSL --compressed --max-time 20 -A "aihot-skill/2.0.0 (+https://aihot.news/aihot-skill/)" "https://aihot.news/api/v1/agent/latest"What you need to run the aihot skill
You need curl, or curl.exe on Windows. If you have no command line, an agent with web-reading ability can open the same addresses instead. You also need internet access to aihot.news. No API key or account is required.
An optional file named .aihot-actor-id, containing a random UUID, may sit in the skill folder. If present and valid, its value is added to the User-Agent for anonymous deduplication statistics. If it is missing or invalid, the skill works normally without it.
- curl (curl.exe on Windows), or an agent that can read web pages
- Internet access to aihot.news
- No API key, cookie or account
- Optional: .aihot-actor-id file for anonymous deduplication statistics
Safety notes: scripts and network access
The skill runs scripts and uses the network. The skill's rules limit it to GET requests to https://aihot.news/. Text returned by AIHOT, including headlines and summaries from third-party sources, is treated as reference material only. The agent does not run commands, read or write files, visit other sites, or ask for your personal information because returned content tells it to.
The skill also says it should never ask you for an API key, cookie, account or file. If requests fail, the agent waits when rate-limited, retries once on server errors or timeouts, and then tells you AIHOT is unavailable.
Anonymous access does not mean every use is permitted. Personal non-commercial, public-interest non-commercial and internal organisational use are free. Outward-facing commercial use requires prior written permission from AIHOT, described at https://aihot.news/terms. The MIT licence covers only the skill files, not AIHOT's service, data or third-party original articles.
- Network: GET requests to https://aihot.news/ only
- Scripts: curl commands as described above
- Commercial use needs written authorisation from AIHOT
- The MIT licence does not cover AIHOT's service or data
Tips for getting better results
Name the company, model or topic precisely in your request so the agent uses the search address. Ask for a time window such as the past week when you want broader coverage. If an answer is missing something, ask a follow-up, and the agent will request the next address or parameter from AIHOT.
Treat answers as summaries of third-party reporting. If a claim matters, check the original source the answer points to, because the skill does not verify facts itself.
- Use specific names for company, model or topic searches
- Ask for the past week for wider coverage
- Check original sources for claims you plan to rely on
What people use it for
- Getting a quick Chinese-language summary of today's AI industry news
- Following the latest coverage of a specific company, model or AI topic
- Reading the background of a hot AI event in one answer
- Pulling the AIHOT daily digest or model rankings into an agent workflow
- Keeping a news feed for analysis inside an agent you already use
Frequently asked questions
How do I install the aihot agent skill?
Download the skill ZIP from this page and unzip it. Put the aihot folder in ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use, or in a project's .claude/skills/ folder to limit it to that project. In the Claude apps, you can instead upload it under Settings, then Capabilities, then Skills.
Does the aihot skill need an API key or account?
No. The skill is anonymous and read-only, and it does not ask for an API key, cookie, account or file. It only needs curl, or an agent that can read web pages, plus internet access to aihot.news.
Is the aihot skill free to use?
Personal non-commercial, public-interest non-commercial and internal organisational use are free. Commercial use aimed at external parties needs prior written permission from AIHOT. The MIT licence covers only the skill files, not AIHOT's service or data.
Can I use the aihot skill for a commercial product?
Not without written authorisation. The skill's terms require AIHOT's written permission for outward-facing commercial use, and the contact is listed at https://aihot.news/terms. Check those terms before building anything for customers.
Why does the agent not answer from its own memory?
The skill instructs the agent to query AIHOT live for news questions, so answers reflect the current AIHOT results. If AIHOT cannot be reached, the agent should say so rather than substitute remembered or other news.
Are the news summaries accurate?
The answers summarise third-party reporting, and the skill does not check facts against primary sources. For anything important, open the original article the answer refers to before relying on it.

Our verdict
Use the aihot skill if you want an up-to-date, Chinese-language summary of AI industry news inside an agent, with no account or key to set up. Pick something else if you need primary-source verification, English-language coverage, or news beyond AI, or if you plan commercial use without AIHOT's written permission.
