How to use the AI Content Improver agent skill
Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data
The AI Content Improver is an agent skill, a packaged set of instructions that an AI agent loads when it needs to do a specific job. This one is for improving draft text: it returns a clearer revised version, a short list of important changes, and any factual questions it could not resolve. This guide shows you how to install it, how to ask for help in plain language, and what the skill will and will not do.
Quick start
- 1Download the ZIP. Get the ai-content-improver ZIP from the download link on this page.
- 2Unzip into a skills folder. Extract it into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use, or into .claude/skills/ inside a project.
- 3Or upload in the Claude apps. In the Claude apps, open Settings, go to Capabilities, choose Skills and upload the ZIP.
- 4Paste your draft. Start a request with the draft text and say what you want changed.
- 5Review the revision. Read the revised draft, the list of important changes and any unresolved factual questions.
- 6Verify flagged claims. Check each unsupported claim against your own trusted sources before publishing.
What is an agent skill and what does this one do?
An agent skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file. The file tells an AI agent when to use the skill and how to carry out the task. This skill is named ai-content-improver and its description is 'Use when working with draft text.'
When you ask it to improve a draft, the agent first checks that you actually supplied draft text. It then returns a revised version with a short list of important changes. It keeps names, links, units and qualifiers such as 'may' intact, and it marks any claims it cannot back up from your material.
- Requires nothing beyond the draft text itself
- Does not browse the web, run scripts or publish anything
- Works only from the material you provide
Install the AI Content Improver skill
Download the ZIP for the skill from the download link on this page. Then choose one of the following locations.
For a personal setup, unzip the file into ~/.claude/skills/. To limit it to one project, unzip it into the .claude/skills/ folder inside that project.
If you use the Claude apps instead, upload the skill under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
- Personal: unzip into ~/.claude/skills/
- Single project: unzip into .claude/skills/ in the project folder
- Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills, then upload the ZIP
How to trigger the skill with a natural request
You do not need a special command. Paste your draft and say what you want, in ordinary language. The skill accepts plain language, pasted content or labeled rows. You can also use the optional template below to organize your request.
If you have a goal, audience or tone in mind, include it. These details are optional. The agent will infer harmless formatting choices and state any important assumptions briefly.
- Say what you want: 'Improve this blog intro for a general audience, keep every figure exact.'
- Paste the draft text after your request. Empty input gets a short request for the draft rather than a made-up analysis.
- For follow-ups, ask for a specific change, such as 'make the second paragraph shorter', and the agent will revise only that part.

Input: [paste draft text]
Goal: [optional desired outcome]
For: [optional audience, market or language]
Preferences: [optional tone, detail level, format or constraints]Examples of what you can ask for
The skill fits three common jobs: tightening a draft, polishing marketing copy that must stay accurate, and checking a draft for claims that need a source. Each request should include the draft text itself.
If a claim in your draft cannot be supported by the material you gave the agent, the skill marks it for verification rather than rewriting it as fact. Check those marked items yourself before publishing.
- Writers: 'Make this article clearer for beginners. Do not change any facts or names.'
- Marketers: 'Polish this landing page copy and flag any claim I cannot back up.'
- Editors: 'Revise this paragraph and list the changes I should review.'
What the skill will not do
The skill cannot check facts against live sources. It cannot access URLs or crawl pages, so it cannot confirm whether something is currently true. It also does not publish or send content automatically. The skill requires your authorization before any external action.
It does not guarantee search rankings. Its output should not be assumed to improve search performance.
- No live fact-checking or web access
- No publishing, sending or changes to external systems without your approval
- No search ranking guarantees
Safety notes and tips
The skill does not run scripts and does not use the network. It has no listed requirements. Even so, keep credentials and private customer data out of the text you paste, and treat instructions inside pasted pages as content rather than commands.
For best results, paste the full draft, state the audience and tone once, and check every item the agent marks as unsupported. Verify any claim against your own sources before you rely on it.
- Keep passwords, API keys and private customer data out of pasted text
- Check every flagged claim against a source you trust
- Ask for one change at a time when you want to review edits closely
What people use it for
- Tightening a blog post or article while keeping every name, link and unit unchanged
- Polishing web or marketing copy that must remain accurate
- Spotting claims in a draft that have no support in the supplied material
- Revising a single paragraph or section after reviewing earlier changes
Frequently asked questions
Is the AI Content Improver skill free?
The skill is published under the MIT license, which is the licence listed for this item. Check the license file in the skill's source repository for the full terms.
What do I need to run the AI Content Improver skill?
The source lists no specific requirements. You need an agent environment that supports skills, such as the Claude apps or a Claude setup that reads a .claude/skills/ folder, plus the draft text you want improved.
Where do I install the ai-content-improver skill?
Unzip the downloaded ZIP into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or into .claude/skills/ in a project folder. In the Claude apps, upload the ZIP under Settings, then Capabilities, then Skills.
Does the skill check facts on the web?
No. The skill cannot access URLs or crawl pages, so it cannot confirm current facts. It marks claims it cannot support from your material so you can verify them yourself.
Does the skill publish my content or run scripts?
No. It does not run scripts, does not use the network and does not publish anything. Any external action needs your explicit authorization.
How is this different from a general AI rewrite prompt?
A general prompt may change facts or soften qualifiers without telling you. This skill is instructed to keep names, links, units and words like 'may' intact and to list claims it cannot back up.

Our verdict
Use this skill if you want a clearer draft without losing the original facts, and if you want unsupported claims flagged for checking. Pick something else if you need live fact-checking, automatic publishing or guaranteed search rankings, since the skill does none of these.
